This timber‑framed building project we were set to construct was one we had considerable experience in, although the scale of the development presented a new challenge.
We welcomed another young, ambitious brick technician to the team for this exciting opportunity, further enhancing our productivity and enabling us to demonstrate our ethos — leading brickwork into a modern, efficient direction focused on delivering exceptional quality across every project we undertake.
Once again, the management team held a meeting to determine the most effective way to divide the workforce. Detailed drawings were gathered so each team had the necessary information readily available. We were introduced to two site managers, and a strong rapport was quickly established — something we consider fundamental at Elements Building Solutions Ltd and always make a priority to achieve. Although still subcontracted under A. Lench Building Contractors, our collaborative approach ensured seamless communication and coordination.
A clear plan was developed to address the unique challenges and nuances of this build. With the labour force fully briefed, work commenced. This affordable housing project was a Westchurch Homes development, and their management team proved outstanding — consistently supportive, communicative, and proactive in ensuring materials were always available, preventing any delays.
Work progressed smoothly, and with our refined, modern approach, significant strides were made. Our first timber‑framed building — eleven terraced townhouses — was completed well ahead of schedule, with no major issues arising. Minor nuances were swiftly and efficiently resolved in partnership with Westchurch Homes management, ensuring productivity and quality were never compromised.
Westchurch Homes were delighted with the results and agreed to open the second plot early. This next phase, comprising eight terraced townhouses, followed much the same structure, and again we made excellent progress.
As is sometimes the case in this industry, unforeseen circumstances arose — A. Lench Building Contractors, through no fault of their own, were let down by another team on a traditional apartment build on the same site. As we were well ahead of schedule on the second timber‑frame project, Westchurch Homes encouraged us to assist in maintaining momentum on the apartment build to ensure completion on time. With the full support of A. Lench Building Contractors, we held a meeting to assess how best to achieve this.
Working alongside a very capable and cooperative site manager, we redirected our efforts to bring the traditional build back on track. It required a 100% commitment from all staff, but with expert guidance from our contracts manager and the enthusiasm and communication of the young site manager, the objective was successfully met.
We went on to complete the timber‑framed buildings and additional works across the site, including all garden walls, retaining walls, and boundary walls. It was an achievement every member of Elements Building Solutions Ltd can be proud of — a testament to the professionalism, teamwork, and dedication that define our company.
